Independence 4K/10K Run

way to start your Independence Day celebration - new course, run it or walk
it...make it serious, or simply enjoy an early morning saunter... join us!
Part
of the Independence Day celebration and targeting the sports minded, the 13th
annual 4K/10K Run is set for July 4th, 2010. Bring the whole family for some
good exercise and fun!
The 4k course winds
through scenic Independence and heads out to irrigated pasture lands and stunning
views of the snow covered Eastern Sierra and the Inyo Mountains. The participants
circle the alfalfa fields and come back through town for a fast finish back
to the starting point.
The new 10k course
goes south, east and then north of town past irrigated and open pasture, and
shrub land The route is cool and flat. The course then heads west to the airport
area and returns along highway 395 to the start-finish. The route is mostly
unpaved, very comfortable to run, yet fast. For those not concentrating on speed
there are excellent views of the Sierra and Inyo mountains.

then follow
the mailing instructions at the bottom of the form.

- For those pre-registered,
race packets may be picked up July 2nd and 3rd at the Independence Chamber
of Commerce.

- Begins at 6:30 a.m. July 4th at the start line across (east of) Highway
395 from Dehy Park.

July 4th 7:15 am Sharp!

Location
Independence region of the Owen's Valley, Inyo County California.
Independence is located on U.S. Highway 395 at the eastern base
of the Sierra Nevada Mountains about 16 miles north of Lone Pine
and about 41 miles south of Bishop. Independence is approximately
210 miles north of Los Angeles.

National Historic Site and the Chamber's Visitor Center in the center
of town.
